On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the MTSU Horse Science Program announced the passing of show ring great and notable sire, Sevé. Sired by Pride’s Generator and out of Doctor’s Lady, Sevé was foaled in 1995. He passed away on May 2, 2026, and was laid to rest at the Whitaker Farm beside his longtime barn mate and MTSU foundation stallion, Hey Dare.
Trainer Allen Foreman and Sevé became well-known throughout the Southeast during the late 1990s and early 2000s. The accomplished team earned the title of Reserve World Champion Stallion twice, with Foreman in the irons for proud owner Dr. Barbara Utermark. Those titles were only a glimpse into the lengthy and impressive show ring career Sevé built during his early years.
While the walking horse industry remembers Sevé for his success in the show ring and his impact as a sire, his passing leaves a tremendous void within the MTSU stables, where he stood for 18 years. Prior to his time at MTSU, Sevé stood at Saddlecrest Farm in Shelbyville, Tennessee, before making the move to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, with Jeremy Carlton.
The Walking Horse Report extends its condolences to Dr. Barbara Utermark, Allen Foreman, Jeremy Carlton and the MTSU Equine Science Program.
