Mr. John L. Robbins, 96, of Cookeville, passed away at his residence on April 9th 2026 after an extended illness. 

Funeral services will be held on Sunday April 12th at 2 pm from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday April 11th from 5 until 8 pm and on Sunday from 12 noon until time for the service at 2. Burial will be held at Overton Memorial Gardens at the conclusion of the service. Brother Tony Bilbrey and Brother Jerry Harris will be officiating the services.

John L. is survived by his daughter Cathy Stacy of Rickman, grandchildren John Robbins (Stephanie), Jordan Stacy, and Tanner Stacy (Sydney) : great grandchildren Trey Robbins, Blakely Stacy, Emmy Lou Stacy, Harper Stacy, and Roczen Stacy,and daughter in law Cindy Robbins. He is also survived by his cousins Thelma Rhoten of Indianapolis, Janie Swallows of Livingston, and Ann Pippen of Cookeville and special friends Mary Howard, Linda Gray, and Kayla Finch Vaughn. 

He was preceded in death by his son David Robbins and his parents Norman and Margie Grace Brown Robbins, and son in law Ralph Stacy.

Born on March 24th, 1930, in the Hilham community of Overton County, John L. grew up working on the family farm. This grew into a love of horses and especially Tennessee Walking Horses. John L. was a proud member of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders & Exhibitors Association. He was gifted at the training and care of horses. He was baptized at the Hilham Church of Christ in the late 50's or early 60's. John L. enjoyed reading his Bible and was known to read a chapter of the Bible every night. If asked if reading your Bible daily was important, John L. would most likely tell you "I man, That's right!"

The family would like to thank the Tennessee Hospice nursing and support staff for all they did for him in his last days.
